SCAC Releases Pre-Season Baseball Poll

SUWANEE, Ga. - Trinity University is the favorite to take home the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball title, based on preseason balloting from the league's head coaches. St. Thomas, which also welcomes a new head coach in Torry Peterson, checked in at fifth with 34 points on the heels of setting a program single-season record with 20 wins last season.

"We had a great fall and worked to build on the foundation we built last season," Head Coach Torry Peterson said. "With a tough non-conference schedule on deck, Celt baseball is chomping at the bit to prepare for the SCAC."

On the mound, St. Thomas returns two starting pitchers who combined for eight wins in Senior Landon Murray and Sophomore Kadin Munson. Murray, the program's all-time leader in wins is fresh off his career-best 3.39 ERA and allowed 0 home runs last season. Munson had an impressive freshman campaign with a 2.83 ERA, ranking fifth in the SCAC. He also had a team-high 61 strikeouts and earned a second-team All-SCAC award.

Offensively, senior outfielder Dylan Lamb looks to headline a Celt Offense that hit 20 home runs last year. Lamb had a second-team All-SCAC nomination and posted a .320 batting average and a team-high 16 stolen bases. Also returning is the outfielder Erik Garza who hit a team-high five home runs and 22 RBIs.
