Men's Soccer Set to Face Off With Occidental College In Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

When the NCAA Revealed the Selection Show for the Division III Men's Soccer Tournament, the St. Thomas Celts were announced as one of the automatic qualifiers by virtue of winning the SCAC title this past Sunday. Men's Soccer will travel to San Antonio, Texas to face Occidental College this Saturday at 7:30 pm for the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Upon winning the SCAC tournament against the Trinity University Tigers 3-2 in Penalty Kicks, the Celts received the conference's automatic qualifier to the national tournament. This was due to their outstanding performance going 14-3-1 (5-3 SCAC) in regular season play and securing the number four seed in Region X.

Play will begin with the round of 64 as St. Thomas will enter the tournament as an AQ. The Celts will play against Occidental and will look to secure victory against the Tigers before awaiting the victor of Texas-Dallas and SCAC foe Trinity. If St. Thomas wins these two games, they will claim the regional championship and will look to play in the Sweet 16 next week.

Men's Soccer made history this season winning their third consecutive SCAC title and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. Led by 2022 All-Americans Taty Aleman and Daniel Castro the Celts look to make noise in this year's tournament after finishing in the Sweet 16 last season.
