Celts Dominate Hardin Simmons 5-0

The University of St Thomas Celts Men's soccer team dominated the Hardin Simmons Cowboys Thursday night at Houston Sports Park, defeating them 5-0 in a scoring frensy.

Ayomide Salako started the goals with an early shot in the 4th minute to put the Celts up 1-0. The second goal came in the 19th minute when defender Ivan Leon booted one past the keeper, assisted by Dany Ramirez. The Celts persisted and finalized one last goal in the first half when Ayomide Salako yet again headed the ball into the back of the net from Hamilton Estrada's corner kick. The Cowboys were kept quiet all half by the Celts defense, and goalkeeper Rodrigo Lazo comfortably made 6 saves.

 In the second half the Cowboys picked up the intensity, but were still unable to put any past the Celts' defense. In the 78th minute Ian Alvarez finish a loose ball that dropped from free kick which was taken by #27 Vinh Le. To close the scoresheet for the Celts, Taty Aleman banged one in the top left corner.

 The Celts lead the game with shots taken, with a high of 15 shots. The Cowboys managed to take 12 shots.

 "I think it was about time we got a clean sheet," Assistant Coach Daniel Fragachan Quintero added. "This upcoming practice we need to focus on defensive transition and better defending as a unit heading into our matchup with Luis Green and Texas Lutheran."
