Men's Soccer's Double Overtime Thriller with No. 2 Trinity Ends in a Draw.

Men's Soccer's Double Overtime Thriller with No. 2 Trinity Ends in a Draw.

Men's Soccer went the distance with No. 2 Trinity as their match would end in a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of play. The Celts would hand Trinity their first blemish of the season while remaining undefeated in conference play (3-0-3).

The previous meeting between the Celts and the Tigers would also be a double overtime battle which saw Trinity squeaking out the victory with just minutes left until the final whistle. Determined to see a different outcome, St. Thomas would claw their way back into the game and stand toe-to-toe with one of the nation's best.

After a stalemate in the first half, Trinity would get on the board first in the 70th minute after a strike from just inside the box. However, the Celts would showcase their resilience with a Luis Bencomo penalty kick goal just four minutes later.

Like their first meeting, a St. Thomas red card would force the them to play a man down for the remaining 30 minutes of the contest. The Celts back line would hold strong and fluster the Tigers as time would tick away.

In this defensive bout, Goalkeeper Rodrigo Lazo would record a season-high nine saves.

The Celts will return home for another tough match with Colorado College, Sunday at 11:00AM
