Celts Drop a Heartbreaker to No. 2 Trinity

Men's Soccer dropped a heartbreaker to No. 2 Trinity in extra time. A Tiger goal in the 103rd minute would allow them to escape Houston with a win.

The Celts would strike first in this one after a hand ball would create a penalty kick opportunity. Andres Marquez would find the back of the net and put St. Thomas on top. However, Trinity would answer with a goal of their own just 35 seconds later. The Tigers wouldn't stop there, they would yet again score in the 27th minute to break the tie and take the advantage. With momentum shifting toward Trinity, Daniel Castro would bring it right back in favor of the Celts with an equalizing 31st minute goal, assisted by Marquez.

The second half may have lacked goals, but the intensity was still very present. After playing a man down for the final 22 minutes of regulation, the game would head into extra time.

The first half of overtime would end in a stalemate as the Celts and the Tigers would trade shots for the entire 10 minutes. Unfortunately, Trinity would net the game-winning goal just three minutes into the second overtime period.

The Celts will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana next week to take on the Gents of Centenary College.
