Men's Soccer Crushes Concordia 3-1 To Kickstart Weekend

In a thrilling matchup at Sabercats Stadium, the University of St. Thomas men's soccer team secured a 3-1 victory over Concordia, maintaining their perfect season record. The match showcased skillful plays, intense moments, and an electrifying atmosphere with enthusiastic fans in attendance.

The first half of the game saw both teams battling fiercely for control of the field. St. Thomas displayed solid defensive plays, denying Concordia any significant scoring opportunities. While the action was intense, neither team managed to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half proved to be far more eventful, with St. Thomas taking the initiative. In the 57th minute, Dany Ramirez, wearing the number 17 jersey for St. Thomas, broke the deadlock with a powerful goal, assisted by Taty Aleman. This electrifying moment sent the home crowd into a frenzy as St. Thomas took a 1-0 lead.

St. Thomas continued to press forward, and in the 66th minute, Taty Aleman further extended their lead with a precision penalty kick. The score was now 2-0 in favor of the home team.

Concordia fought valiantly and found a lifeline in the 77th minute when they scored a goal. However, St. Thomas wasn't done yet. Taty Aleman once again stepped up to the plate, converting another penalty kick in the 80th minute to secure a 3-1 lead for his team.

The game was not without its share of drama, as several yellow cards were issued by the officials. Dany Ramirez, Paul Claffey, Arlen Garcia, Yael Sanchez, and Ivan Leon all received yellow cards during the match.

In the cage, St. Thomas goalkeeper Cristo Gayoso made crucial saves, allowing only one goal and preserving the lead for his team.

When the final whistle blew, the University of St. Thomas emerged as the victors with a final score of 3-1. The team's defense and clinical finishing were the keys to their success, and they maintained their undefeated record in the season.
