Men's Soccer Draws With TLU 2-2

Men's Soccer Draws With TLU 2-2

#18 Men's Soccer drew 2-2 with Texas Lutheran this past Sunday. After going down 1-0 early, the Celts responded with two goals of their own, before allowing a late Bulldog goal to secure the draw.

Both teams stayed locked at 0-0 for the first 38 minutes of the match. This was until a TLU goal would put the Bulldogs up 1-0 until the end of the half. The score would hold until the 58th minute when St. Thomas would finally put themselves on the board with a goal from Diego Lazo, assisted by Juan Gomez. Not far behind, the Celts found themselves scoring another after Angel Ramirez assisted Taty Aleman to give St. Thomas the 2-1 lead. With the Celts giving themselves the advantage, it looked like victory was secured, yet the Bulldogs would not go away. With just five minutes remaining in the match, TLU scored to force a 2-2 draw in a competitive SCAC matchup.

Cristo Gayoso would get the start for St. Thomas, picking up a match-high of six saves. Gayoso and his defense would stop 11 corner kicks from TLU to go along with 11 shots.

With the conclusion of this game, St. Thomas is now 0-1-2 in the conference. They look to pick up a conference victory at home this Friday against Austin College.
