Men's Soccer yet again had an impressive performance as they cruised to a 7-1 victory over McMurry.
Gabe Salako stole the show in the first half, securing a hat trick within the first 20 minutes of play. Salako would net his first two goals within the same minute to give the Celts an early 2-0 lead. Only five minutes later, he would complete the trifecta with a strike from inside the box, assisted by Dany Ramirez. However, with the half expiring, the War Hawks would chip away at the Celt's lead with a goal.
It was all defense from both McMurry and UST for the first 20 minutes of the half, until a Daniel Castro goal would break the stalemate. The final 15 minutes of the game featured an offensive explosion from Juan Gutierrez. The freshman forward recorded a hat trick in just eight minutes of play. Gutierrez' third goal would extend the Celt's lead to six and put the nail in the coffin for the War Hawks.
Salako and Gutierrez are two of seven Celts to ever record a hat trick in UST Men's Soccer history. Furthermore, they are both the first players to ever record a hat trick in a single half of competition.
The Celts will return to the pitch next Thursday, September 9th to take on Concordia (TX).
