Celts host UD on Senior Night

 Houston, Texas - The University of St. Thomas Celts took the field at SaberCats Stadium against the University of Dallas, where they honored their graduating seniors in a heartfelt pregame ceremony. Despite a spirited pregame ceremony, the Celts fell 3-1 to the Crusaders, dropping their record to 6-8-2 overall and 2-7 in the SCAC.

In the first half, Dallas came out strong, with Nevaeh Coronado scoring in the 19th minute off an assist from Claire Reed. The visitors added another goal just before halftime when Kaitlyn Munguia found the net in the 42nd minute, giving Dallas a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

The second half started slow for UST when Dallas scored their third goal in the 56th minute, widening the lead to 3-0. The Celts finally picked up their pace and responded when Emma Cerda put one away in the 63rd minute, assisted by Alexa Ramirez. Despite terrific energy and multiple chances to cut the Crusader lead to 1, St. Thomas couldn't find a second goal, ending the match at 3-1. Celebrating the Seniors:

The night served as a special farewell to the many Celt seniors, who have been pillars of dedication and leadership for the team. Each of them left their mark on the field:

· #4 Paola Colon consistently inspired the team with her positive attitude and dedication, always bringing her best to the pitch.

· #5 Emily McCoy consistently demonstrated her commitment and passion for the game, bringing energy to every match.

· #7 Hannah Zuniga, a player with defensive prowess, could be counted on to rally the team and uphold the team's spirit.

· #14 Bryanna Jasso impacted with her skillful midfield control and ability to distribute the ball effectively.

· #18 Astrid Mencia leaves a legacy of tenacity, known for her sharp assists, like the one she set up in the second half.

· #21 Alexa Ramirez, who assisted the Celts' only goal of the night, has been instrumental in the team's success, showcasing her vision on the field.

· #23 Kayla Tomlinson, a fierce defender known for her unyielding play on the backline, played with heart and set an example for her teammates.
