Celts Dominate Centenary in 2-0 Victory

SHREVEPORT, LA – The University of St. Thomas women's soccer team kicked off SCAC play in an impressive fashion, earning a 2-0 win over Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. The victory moves the Celts to 1-0 in conference and 5-1-2 overall for the season.

From the start, St. Thomas controlled the match, keeping the ball in their possession for much of the first half and outshooting the Ladies 8-3. The persistence paid off. In the 32nd minute, Freshman Fernanda Alvarado finally broke through and found the back of the net, giving St. Thomas a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Alvarado struck again, doubling the Celts' advantage and sending them into halftime with a 2-0 lead and eventual final result.

In the second half, St. Thomas continued to threaten, outshooting their opponents once again. Despite several opportunities to extend their lead, the Ladies' defense held firm. Centenary fought back with determination, trying to find a way onto the scoreboard. UST goalkeeper Kylie Soich kept Centenary at bay, recording four crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet and secure the victory.

· Alvarado' 2 first half goals were her 2nd & 3rd of her UST career.

· Keeper Kylie Soich had 4 saves to record her 3rd shutout of the season.
