Celts Win on the Road

Celts Win on the Road

On a crisp Friday evening in Sherman, TX, the University of St. Thomas women's soccer team earned a road victory, 1-0, against Hendrix College, a future 2025 SCAC opponent. This victory improves UST's record to 3-1-1 for the season.

The Celts controlled much of the action, applying steady pressure on Hendrix with 6 shots on goal in the first half. Despite their best efforts, they could not find the back of the net before halftime. St. Thomas' defense was terrific in the first 45 as goalkeeper Kylie Soich only faced 2 shots from the Warriors.

In the second half, the Celt's persistence paid off as sophomore Ashlee Stoltje scored in the 55th minute. Stoltje's game-winning goal came from a well-placed assist by Astrid Mencia, putting UST ahead in what turned out to be the final result, 1-0. St. Thomas continued to apply pressure while maintaining a solid defense, preventing Hendrix from leveling the score.
