Celts Dominate at Home

The University of St. Thomas secured their second victory of the season Friday night against cross-town rival and NAIA opponent North American University at their gorgeous home Pitch; SaberCats Stadium. The Celts controlled throughout the night, displaying their superior skill, and eventually secured a 3-1 result.

In the 34th minute, senior Paola Colon scored on a rebound off the NAU Goalkeeper to give UST a 1-0 lead at the half.

North American University came out of the locker room pressing hard, eventually leveling the game at 1 a piece. The Mustangs used a Colon of their own when Genevieve Colon scored in the 55th minute. St. Thomas immediately regrouped and answered in the 67th minute with a penalty kick goal by midfielder Grace Carmichael. With a goal lead again, the Celts settled in and struck again in the 70th minute when Colon scored her second goal in the 69th minute off a well-played cross from teammate Ashlee Stoltje. Coach Nataki Stewart used the moment to go to his bench and play the majority of his roster.
