The University of St. Thomas is excited to announce the Women's Soccer 2024 schedule. The Celts will host their home matches again this year at the beautiful SaberCats Stadium. To enhance their roster and compete for the SCAC Championship, the Celts have added five freshmen and three transfers. The team is led by second-year Head Coach and UST alumni Nataki Stewart, eager to build on last year's growth in his first year as UST Head Coach.
Season Overview
This season, the Celts have an 18-game slate that includes an intense 10-match conference schedule. The Celts' season starts with back-to-back matches in Jackson, Mississippi. On August 30th, the Celts will kick off the season against Belhaven University, and on the 31st, they play Millsaps College. The Celts return to Houston for their opening home game versus North American University on September 6th. "We are looking forward to this season as last year's accomplishments on and off the field created a solid foundation, and our collective dedication will drive us to compete harder this fall," according to Coach Stewart.
Leadership and Players
This year's team will rely on senior leadership, which includes Bryanna Jasso and Astrid Menica, both All-Conference. Junior Emma Cerda and sophomores Kylie Soich and Hope Billington were also named to the SCAC All-Conference team and will be valuable contributors to this year's success. "We are returning 23 players, of which 16 started in multiple games and were part of a defensive unit that only allowed ten goals during the 2023 season. I can't wait to see the growth and success we will achieve together this season", says Coach Nataki Stewart.
