
HOUSTON,TX – The University of St. Thomas (TX) Softball team opened their final series of the regular season with a 4-3 victory over Trinity University, kicking off Senior Night weekend with a win. With the result, the Celts improve to 27-10 overall and 23-4 in conference.
Trinity struck first with a run in the top of the first, but the Celts wasted no time answering. Senior Jaelyn Simmons came around to score on a deep RBI double by freshman Samantha Crumrin to even the game at 1-1. In the second, St. Thomas took advantage of a defensive error to plate another run, with senior Lindsey Gonzalez coming all the way around to score on a groundout by senior Gabby Davila.
The Tigers regained the lead twice in the third and sixth innings, but the Celts continued to respond. Simmons once again crossed home in the fifth thanks to an RBI single by junior Chloe Bennett, tying the game at 3-2. After Trinity briefly pulled ahead in the top of the sixth, the Celts countered in the bottom half. Gonzalez singled, stole a base, and came home on a well-placed infield single by Davila, making it 4-3.

The Celts will wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader against Trinity beginning at 1 PM. After Game Two, St. Thomas will celebrate Senior Night, honoring the dedication and contributions of its graduating student-athletes.
