St. Thomas Edged in SCAC Tournament by Trinity 3-2

In an intense softball showdown at the SCAC tournament, Trinity (Tex.) narrowly defeated St. Thomas (Tex.) with a final score of 3-2.

Trinity got off to a strong start in the second inning, scoring three runs to take an early lead. Peyton Bowser kicked things off with a single to left center, bringing Jordan Arce home for the first run. Angela Baltzell followed up with a single to left field, allowing Sydney Watson to advance to third and Bowser to score. Samantha Tagawa then reached on a fielder's choice, bringing Watson home and extending Trinity's lead to 3-0.

St. Thomas fought back in the fifth inning, with Jaelyn Simmons hitting a crucial double to left field, driving in Rebecca Archibald and Delayne Moreno to narrow the gap to 3-2.

Despite St. Thomas' late rally, Trinity's strong pitching held them off for the remainder of the game. Jordan Arce pitched five solid innings, allowing only two runs on three hits while striking out five batters. Heather Nugent came in for relief in the final two innings, securing the win and earning the save.

Allison Hughes pitched a valiant game for St. Thomas, going six innings and allowing three runs on six hits.

With this loss, St. Thomas now heads to face Centenary in an elimination game. Follow ustcelts.com for all scores and updates.
