
IRVING,TX- UST Softball team capped off a dominant series sweep over the University of Dallas with a 4-1 victory in the final game. With the win, the Celts improve to 10-5 overall and 9-2 in conference.
The Celts wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning. Samantha Crumrin flied out to center field, allowing Rebecca Archibald to score the first run of the game. Moments later, Ana Zozaya doubled to center field, driving in Jaelyn Simmons, making the score 2-0.
The game remained scoreless in both the second and third innings, as both teams struggled to get their offenses going.
Dallas threatened in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a run to narrow the gap to 2-1. But the Celts answered back in the top of the fifth. Gabby Davila singled to left field, advanced to second, and brought home Chloe Bennett, extending the lead to 3-1.
After a scoreless sixth inning, St. Thomas sealed the win in the top of the seventh. Lindsey Gonzalez reached first base on an error, allowing Avery Pinz to score, pushing the lead to 4-1.
