
HOUSTON,TX- St. Thomas Softball team continued its dominant conference run, securing a 15-7 victory over Concordia University at home. The win advances the Celts to 7-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
Concordia struck early in the top of the first, loading the bases before delivering a three-run homer to take a 3-0 lead. However, the Celts responded with an offensive outburst, scoring nine runs in the bottom half of the inning. Zoe Acosta singled to right field, bringing home Jaelyn Simmons. Moments later, Savana Henken delivered a two-RBI single to center, scoring Avery Pinz and Chloe Bennett. The scoring frenzy continued as Gabby Davila and Delayne Moreno each drew bases-loaded walks, adding to the lead.
With the bases still packed, Rebecca Archibald walked, scoring Lindsey Gonzalez. Simmons followed with a fly to right field, plating another run. The inning was capped off by Bennett's single to center, pushing the Celts ahead 9-3.
Concordia fought back with three runs in the second inning, trimming the Celt lead to 9-6. The Celts were held scoreless in the bottom half, and the Tornadoes added another run in the third to make it 9-7.
The Celts extended their lead in the bottom of the third when Samantha Crumrin singled to center, allowing Archibald to score. Henken followed with a hit, bringing Simmons home. The inning continued with Gonzalez doubling to left field, scoring Crumrin, and Olivia Sanchez securing a 15-7 advantage.
Both teams remained scoreless in the fourth, and after five innings of play, the game ended via run-rule with the Celts taking the 15-7 victory.
