HOUSTON – The University of St. Thomas (TX) Softball team put together a dominant display at home to sweep Austin College, winning both Friday games in commanding fashion: 12-0 and 8-0. With the victories, the Celts improve to 26-10 overall and 22-4 in SCAC play.

Game 1 UST 12, AC 0

The Celts jumped out to a commanding lead with a seven-run first inning, taking advantage of a mix of defensive miscues and clutch hitting. Junior Chloe Bennett brought in the first run on a fielder's choice, and senior Jaelyn Simmons scored soon after on a steal attempt.

Freshman Savana Henken and senior Zoe Acosta added pressure on the bases, each scoring on wild pitches, while senior Rebecca Archibald capped the inning by drawing a bases-loaded walk. Freshman Ana Zozaya delivered the big hit with a two-RBI single up the middle.

St. Thomas kept the pressure on in the second inning with a pair of RBI plays from senior Delayne Moreno and Archibald, pushing the lead to 12-0. In the circle, freshman Samantha Crumrin delivered a composed performance to shut out the 'Roos.

Game 2 UST 8, AC 0

In Game 2, the Celts continued their offensive momentum. Chloe Bennett reached on an error that brought home Archibald, and shortly after, Ana Zozaya and Zoe Acosta each scored on passed balls and a single by Lindsey Gonzalez. Henken also crossed the plate after another defensive miscue, giving St. Thomas a quick 5-0 lead.

Zozaya continued her big day with an RBI double in the second and a run-scoring single in the fourth. Acosta tacked on the final run with an RBI single to center. St. Thomas stayed locked in defensively to secure another shutout win.
