Celts Sweep Doubleheader at Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The University of St. Thomas (TX) softball team dominated in a road doubleheader against the University of the Ozarks, securing two wins to improve to 19-10 overall and 15-4 in SCAC play.

Game 1 UST 9, OZK 0
The Celts exploded offensively in Game 1, led by a standout performance from Chloe Bennett, who homered twice and drove in five runs.

Bennett launched her first home run in the opening frame, scoring Jaelyn Simmons to put UST on the board. She added a solo shot in the third and followed that with a two-RBI single in the sixth.

Later in the inning, Zoe Acosta added the exclamation point with a two-RBI triple to right field, sealing the 8-0 victory.

Game 2 UST 7 OZK 1

UST kept the momentum going in Game 2 with another strong offensive outing. Simmons kicked off the scoring by crossing the plate on a wild pitch in the first inning.

In the second, Delayne Moreno drove in a run with a single, and Bennett stayed hot with her third homer of the day in the third inning. Gabby Davila contributed with an RBI triple in the fourth and later scored on a wild pitch.

After Ozarks got one run back in the fifth, UST tacked on two more in the seventh, including an RBI groundout by Davila and another RBI single from Moreno, closing out a 7-1 win.

Up Next

The Celts will look to complete the series sweep as they return to the field for a single game on Monday, April 7 at 11 a.m.
