
HOUSTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas Softball team has announced its full schedule for the 2025 season, with the Celts set to kick off at home on February 7. The Celts will look to build on last year's success as they were the top 3 seed for the 2024 season.
The Celts' early season slate includes six straight home games, with doubleheaders against Mary Hardin-Baylor (Feb. 7) and Texas-Dallas (Feb. 8). UST will remain in Houston the following weekend for a three-game series against McMurry (Feb. 14-15), highlighted by a Valentine's Day doubleheader under the lights.
March brings key matchups, including a home series against Concordia (Feb. 28-March 1) and a road trip to Dallas (March 7-8). UST will also travel to play the 2024 Reigning SCAC Softball Champs Texas Lutheran (March 14-15). then Southwestern (April 11-12) while facing other SCAC rivals such as Schreiner, Austin, and Trinity in critical late-season contests.
The Celts will conclude their regular season with a three-game home series against Trinity (April 25-26) before heading to Georgetown, Texas, for the SCAC Conference Tournament (May 2-4).
Returning Stars and Newcomers
The Celts are primed for a successful campaign, led by the return of several key contributors. Chloe Bennett, who earned First Team NFCA All-Region honors in 2024, will once again anchor the offense. The junior slugger posted a .455 batting average with four home runs, 41 RBIs, and a .686 slugging percentage last season, ranking among the SCAC's best.
Rebecca Archibald, a sophomore outfielder and Second Team NFCA All-Region selection, also returns after leading the team with a .491 batting average and 27 stolen bases in 2024. Known for her dynamic speed and consistency, Archibald was a key catalyst in the lineup, boasting a 19-game hitting streak and a .552 on-base percentage.
UST welcomes back several key players who earned SCAC honors last season. Junior Allison Hughes returns after earning Second Team All-SCAC recognition, boasting an 11-4 record and 10 complete games. Her standout performance against Dallas, highlighted by two victories and a 0.00 ERA, earned her SCAC Pitcher of the Week honors. Senior Lindsey Gonzalez also returns, coming off a stellar season in which she secured a Second Team All-SCAC spot with career-best marks in batting average (.354), on-base percentage (.409), and slugging percentage (.485). Additionally, honorable mention selections Gabby Davila, Victoria Sossaman, and Delayne Moreno, back to bolster the Celt roster.
Head Coach Frobese added, "We are excited to kick off the 2025 season with some tough competition from our region. We return some key starters that includes a strong senior and junior class that will provide great leadership to help get us back to the top of conference! We have added a great freshmen group to the mix that can help put us back on the national radar. This is an incredibly hard-working group and I can't wait to see what they will accomplish!"
