Ten Celts Named to All-SCAC List

In voting done by the leagues Head Coaches and Sports Information Directors, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its All-SCAC Softball list this Friday afternoon. When going through the list, the Celts had 10 selections. 

First Team:

Chloe Bennett was named to the All-SCAC first team after an outstanding regular season performance with a .455 batting average, 4 home runs, and conference-leading 41 RBI. She also accumulated numerous awards this season including SCAC Hitter of the Week, and a spot on the prestigious NFCA Player of the Year Watchlist.

Joining Bennett on first team was sophomore outfielder Rebecca Archibald. Archibald hit a team-high .491 batting average and is currently on a 15-game hit streak heading into the SCAC Tournament. Archibald was also named SCAC hitter of the week once this season.  

Junior Jaelyn Simmons grabbed the third baseman 1st team spot for the third year in a row. Simmons hit .374 and notched 2 home runs with 27 RBI.

Second Team:

Sophomore Allison Hughes was named to the second team after grabbing an 11-4 record in 16 starts. Across 100.1 innings of work, Hughes had 10 complete games and posted a 3.14 ERA. She was also named SCAC Pitcher of the Week after notching 2 victories and a 0.00 ERA against SCAC foe Dallas. 

Junior Lindsey Gonzalez grabbed a second-team All-SCAC spot after posting a career-high .354 batting average, .409 on-base percentage, and .485 slugging percentage. 

Also making the list as an honorable mention were Gabby Davila, Mallarie Munson, Victoria Sossaman, Delayne Moreno, and Haley Lupian.

Gabby Davila was a key player in the Celts' conference run at first base recording 129 putouts. At the plate she had an impressive .415 batting average, .537 on-base percentage, and .463 slugging. 

Senior Mallarie Munson played outfield for the Celts and had a .247 batting average with 1 home run, and 19 RBI. In the outfield, she had a career-high 32 putouts. 

Freshman pitcher Victoria Sossaman shined in her opening year with an 11-6 record in 100.1 innings of work. Through those games, she totaled 77 strikeouts and a 3.84 ERA.

Junior Delayne Moreno played all 35 regular season games for the Celts in center field and nabbed a career-high 64 putouts with a .271 average and 12 stolen bases. 

Lastly, Haley Lupian rounded out the Celts All-SCAC selections as a second baseman. In 31 games played, Lupian recorded a .313 batting average with a .352 on base percentage and .337 slugging.
