Four Celts Named to NFCA All-Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 373 student-athletes from 174 schools who comprise the 2023 NFCA Division III All-Region teams.

Top-ranked Salisbury in Region V was one of three schools to place seven players on their region's list, including five on the first team. No. 6 East Texas Baptist in Region X (four first-teamers) and seventh-ranked Tufts in Region I (five first-teamers) are the others.

No. 5 Trine (VII) and No. 13 Virginia Wesleyan (Region VI) paced their regions with six selections apiece, while No. 4 Linfield also had six players chosen to rank second in Region X.

Eight schools — No. 16 MIT (Region II), Alfred (Region III), Ramapo, No. 20 Rowan and No. 18 The College of New Jersey (Region IV), second-ranked Berry (Region VI), third-ranked Case Western Reserve (Region VII) and No. 8 Texas Lutheran — had five recipients.

A dozen teams — Manhattanville, receiving votes Rensselaer and No. 15 Rochester (Region III), Stevenson (Region V), receiving votes Belhaven (Region VI), receiving votes Mount Union (Region VII), Concordia Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Region VIII), No. 22 Central and No. 25 Luther (Region IX), and Pacific Lutheran and receiving votes St. Thomas Houston (Region X)  — each had four of their players represented.

Twenty-three teams had three players chosen, 52 had two selected, and 73 had one representative.

Making the list for the Celts was Bailey Tisdale and Rebecca Archibald for the second team, in addition to Adelyn Becerra and Chloe Bennett on the third team.

Senior Bailey Tisdale posted a remarkable 1.93 ERA in 126.2 innings of work in the regular season. The lefty set the program record in wins with 18 in just 22 starts, a category that led the SCAC. In those innings, Tisdale struck out 61 batters.

Freshman Adelyn Becerra was a force at the Celts at the plate posting a remarkable .407 batting average. She also ranked second on the team with 27 RBIs. As a catcher, she was responsible for throwing out five runners, and 59 total putouts. 

Next Freshman Chloe Bennett had a monster freshman season ranking at the top in nearly every category. She led the Celts in doubles with 14, home runs with 5, and RBIs with 44. She also got it done defensively with a team-leading 206 put-outs and a .978 fielding percentage. 

Lastly, freshman Rebecca Archibald led the SCAC in batting average at .469. The freshman also led the Celts in hits with 53, and stolen bases with 34. Archibald was consistent at the plate, recording a hit in nearly every game, and scoring a team-leading 45 runs.
