Six Celts Earn All-SCAC Honors

After their inaugural season, UST Softball landed six players on the 2021 All-SCAC Team. Emma Garrett would headline for Celts, being named the Newcomer of the Year. 

 

Emma Garrett, a first-year outfielder from Danbury, Texas, finished the regular season ranked in the top six in the conference in several offensive categories, including batting average (.423 – sixth), slugging percentage (.640 – sixth), doubles (nine – fifth), triples (three – third), hits (47 – second), runs batted in (31 – second), runs scored (32 – fourth) and total bases (71 – third). As part of a lineup made up of predominantly first-year players, Garrett helped lead the Celts to a 15-5 conference mark and a second-place regular season finish in the program's first year of existence. Garrett's spectacular freshman season also landed her on the All-SCAC First Team.

 

Mia Terry, a freshman shortstop from Texas City, would also bring home First Team All-SCAC honors. Terry hit a remarkable .525, which was second highest in the conference. She also had a team-best .520 on-base percentage to go along with her 22 RBIs. Terry was named the SCAC Hitter of the Week following her dominant performance over Austin College where she hit .700 and drove in six runs.

 

Lindsey Longuet, a senior pitcher from Missouri City, Texas earned First Team All-SCAC honors after her dominant season in the circle. Longuet posted the most strikeouts (101) and was top five in earned-run average (2.20) and wins (12). The senior ace took home three SCAC Pitcher of the Week honors and even recorded a no-hitter against UDallas.

 

Freshman Third Baseman, Mallarie Munson took home Second Team All-SCAC honors. In addition to her defense, Munson also turned heads in the batter's box ranking top four in both RBIs (31) and home runs (4) in the SCAC.

 

Ariana Brown and Shae Montemayor were All-SCAC Honorable Mention. Brown, the freshman second basemen from Houston, Texas hit .315 while stealing 10 bases this season. Montemayor, the freshman from Alvin, Texas had a consistent season for the Celts, hitting .374 and driving in 13 runs. Montemayor went a season-best four-for-five with two RBIs and two doubles in an extra-inning win over Our Lady of the Lake.
