Longuet's No-Hitter Fuels the Celts to Series Sweep over UDallas

Longuet's No-Hitter Fuels the Celts to Series Sweep over UDallas

Softball earned the series sweep with a six-inning run-rule victory over UDallas. Lindsey Longuet threw her first career no-hitter as the Celts picked up their 10th conference win.

Longuet would continue to make her case for the SCAC Pitcher of the Year with adding a no-hitter to her resume. Longuet currently leads the conference in wins and strikeouts. Today, she was able to strike out seven Crusaders while only walking four batters.

UST's bats would get hot to open the game, scoring one or more runs in each of the first four innings. Mallarie Munson would jumpstart the Celts offense with a RBI single to right center, which would drive in Mia Terry to give UST an early one-run lead.

An explosive three-run second inning would bust things wide open for the Celts. Three straight RBIs from Mia Terry, Shae Montemayor and Emma Garrett would extend UST's lead to four. The very next inning, Taylor Le would record a base knock that would drive in Grace Coffelt

With Longuet dealing, the Celts found themselves with an opportunity to run-rule UDallas. As Kenady Irwin would reach first on an error, UST would capitalize, plating the final two runs.

Mia Terry would lead the Celts, going three-for-four with an RBI, while scoring a run herself. Terry would give the Crusaders nightmares all series, hitting .667 while recording six RBIs. Emma Garrett would drive in a run as well, going two-for-four on the day.

The Celts advance to 10-2 in SCAC play and sit at second place in their inaugural season. They will be back in action next Friday as they travel to Georgetown to play Southwestern University.
