UST Softball blanked Trinity University in game one of their series, 5-0. Lindsey Longuet pitched a two-hitter on the way to her eighth win.
It was a pitcher's duel to start the game, as both teams were held hitless for the first three innings. Shae Montemayor broke the scoring threshold in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single, driving Mia Terry in. To add to their lead, Brenna Ruether would deliver an RBI single to left field to put the Celts up 2-0. With the game winding down, an Emma Garrett 2 RBI triple would take the life out of the Tigers. Too close the door on Trinity, Malarie Munson would drive Garrett in, as UST cakewalked to a 5-0 victory.
Lindsey Longuet continued her dominance in the circle, pitching a no-hitter until the fifth inning. She would record the complete game shutout, posting five strikeouts and only walking one batter.
Softball complete their series with Trinity tomorrow with a doubleheader, scheduled at 1:00 & 3:00.
