UST Softball is already making waves in the SCAC after kicking off their inaugural season this past weekend.
Freshman outfielder Emma Garrett was named the SCAC Softball Hitter of the Week for the opening weekend in the SCAC. Garrett helped lead the Celts to their first win in program history last week in a weekend split against LeTourneau University. She recorded a hit in both games including going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in UST's 12-11 extra-inning thriller. Overall, Garrett posted a .556 batting average (5-for-9) with two RBI, two runs scored, two doubles, one stolen base and a .778 slugging percentage.
"This achievement was a huge honor to me" Garrett saaid. "Not only am I extremely proud to be representing UST, but I also think it's awesome to see that my hard work has payed off."
Garrett and the Celts look to stay hot this upcoming week as they will host three series in the next five days. The Celts will open their home stand with Texas A&M San Antonio tomorrow at 11:00 and 1:00. Livestream and stats can be found at www.ustcelts.com
