Men's Golf Finishes Third At SCAC Championships

Celt Men's Golf Concluded their season today at the SCAC Championships. After the final round of action, St. Thomas finished third overall in a competitive race, which left them just one stroke behind second place.

Behind All-SCAC performances from Zach Allen and Cameron Curtis, the Celts stayed competitive through day three threatening for first. In total, the Celts finished with 926 (+62), and was just one stroke behind second-place Trinity University. 

The Lineup:

Cameron Curtis was impressive in the final day of action carding a 74 (+2). Curtis had 11 pars, a birdie, and an eagle to bring his total score to 230 (+14) and lock in 9th place.

Tied with Curtis at 9th was Zach Allen who fired an 80 (+8) in the final round. Allen shot 4 pars, 2 birdies, and an eagle to keep himself in the top ten. When the dust settled, Allen finished with a 230 (+14) to lock in the final All-SCAC spot.

Freshman Antonio Ramirez carded an 83 (+11) to close out his tournament. Ramirez's scorecard included 10 pars and a birdie to finish 15th place. His total score was 235 (+19).

Not far behind was Marshall Hatcher who fired a 79 (+7). Hatcher had a team high 4 birdies in the final round to bring his total score to a 236 (+20) to finish 19th place.

Senior Patrick Smetek finished the tournament with an 83 (+11) in the final round. Smetek had 10 pars and a key birdie on hole 16 to keep himself competitive and finish with a 239 (+23), good for 23rd place.   

Notable Stats:

St. Thomas was first in the tournament with 2 Eagles overall

Cameron Curtis and Zach Allen carded one eagle each

Marshall Hatcher was 3rd overall in birdies with 9

St. Thomas was third in birdies with 29 overall
