
Men's Golf looked to defend their title at the Linda Lowrey Invitational. At the end of the first day of competition, the Celts finished first place and will look to keep that placement into day two.
The Celts were led by Cade Kiser who is currently tied for first place. Kiser fired a 69 (-3) and a tournament high-five birdies to keep himself in the race. He also shot 11 pars in his day one score. Henry Phavorachit also had a stellar day on the course. Phavorachit is currently tied for seventh place and finished strong, after scoring a 73 (+1) with birdies on the last three holes. Rounding out the top three placements for the Celts was Cameron Curtis, currently tied for ninth. Curtis shot a 74 (+2) and tied with Kiser with five birdies to stay competitive.
Also contributing to the score was Jonathan Miller at 75 (+3). Miller finished tied for 13th after firing an opening round that included 11 pars and two birdies. Next, Patrick Smetek finished tied for 37th by shooting a 79 (+7) in the opening round. Then rounding out competitors for the Celts was Jackson Murff firing an 87 (+15) to lock in 60th after the opening day of action.
With all scores combined, the Celts finished first place jumping SCAC rival Southwestern after the final holes of round one.
