Houston, Texas - The University of St. Thomas men's soccer team faced a very good Trinity University team Friday night at SaberCats Stadium. The Tigers are currently ranked #23 in the country, and after a 4-0 loss, the Celts would agree. The result drops the Celts to 7-5-2 overall and 3-3-2 in SCAC play.
Trinity struck early when, in the 7th minute, Jonconner Rule finished a nice combination for a 1-0 lead. The Celts regrouped, held defensively throughout the first 45 to keep the Tigers within striking distance, and headed into the break, still only trailing 1-0.
Early in the second half, UST had a terrific chance when the leading goal-scorer saw what looked to be an open goal but was unable to capitalize. Minutes later, the Tigers extended their lead to 2-0 and followed up with 2 additional goals.
