
After a 10-hour bus ride to Alpine, TX, the University of St. Thomas men's soccer team was never able to get going Thursday afternoon versus Sul Ross St. Thomas men's soccer fell in a ragged road match against NCAA Division II opponent Sul Ross State resulting in their first loss for the season. Another slow start doomed UST as they were unable to find the 2nd half-magic of their previous two matches. The Celts now sit at an overall 3-1 for the season.
The first half featured back-and-forth play between with neither side able to gain control. However, in the 37th min mark, Sul Ross' Sean Carlos scored to break the deadlock, and take a 1-0 lead. The Lobos outshot the Celts 8-4 in the first half which ended with UST still within striking distance. Unfortunately, in the second half, it was the Lobos who struck again and extended their lead with another goal and the final 2-0 result. The Celts continued to fight but struggled to find good chances throughout the match.
