Men's Soccer finished their senior day game by dominating the Centenary Gents 7-2. At the beginning of the match their three seniors Ayomide Salako, Rafael Ramos, and Andres Marquez were honored.
The Gents started the game hot taking control of the match early. After a St. Thomas own goal in the 19th minute, Centenary struck again in the 23rd minute to take a commanding 2-0 lead. This is when things became out of control for Centenary. After unsporting behavior from one of their players, the officials would charge the Gents with a red card which gave the Celts a one-man advantage. The Celts responded after Taty Aleman scored a penalty kick to cut the lead in half to 2-1. Following this, Ayomide Salako put one in the back of the net to tie the score 2-2. Centenary would be unable to stop the bleeding, as a red card gave the Celts another man advantage 11-9. The run did not stop as St. Thomas finally took a 3-2 lead after Daniel Castro scored his first on the day.
To kickstart the second half, Daniel Castro could not miss the scoring frenzy as he scored a pair of goals in the 48th and 52nd minute respectively. This completed his hat trick to give St. Thomas the 6-2 lead. It would not end there as Jayce Nunn added his third of the season to give the Celts the 7-2 advantage.
St. Thomas would showcase their skills offensively, as 24 shots and five corners dictated the flow of the match. Juan Gutierrez also added three assists on the day, to three different teammates: Daniel Castro, Ayomide Salako, and Taty Aleman. The Celts would not go unscathed either though, as one caution would be charged to Andres Marquez.
Up next, St. Thomas travels to Sherman, Texas to take on the SCAC Tournament. The Celts currently will enter the tournament as the 2nd seed.
