After a weekend sweep over Dallas and Austin College, Men's Soccer wrapped up their regular season with a 10-2-4 overall record, while going 6-0-2 in conference play. With postseason play upon us, the Celts now shift their focus to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
St. Thomas is heading into their semifinal game ranked as the No. 2 seed. They will face off with the three-seeded Southwestern University Pirates on Friday, November 5th at 7:30PM. The Celts and the Pirates saw each other twice this fall and have yet to edge the other. After two double overtime scoreless draws, St. Thomas looks to use their red-hot offense to their advantage.
The Celts are trending in the right direction after the final two weeks of conference play. They have netted 12 goals and outscored their opponents 12-3 in their last four matches. Freshman Forward Daniel Castro has scored seven goals in this time frame and has been tabbed back-to-back SCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
This marks the second time the Celts have played in the SCAC postseason. Last year, St. Thomas stormed all the way to the championship game but were defeated in penalty kicks.
On the other side of the bracket, the one-seeded, and nationally ranked Trinity University will take on the four-seeded Colorado College.
The 2021 SCAC Championships is being hosted by Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. For more information about the tournament, please visit the Official Tournament Website.
