
HOUSTON,TX- Wilson Salazar, a first-year from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 10-16.
Salazar was instrumental in the Celts' success, going 3-0 in singles play while competing at the No. 4 spot. His most significant win came in a clutch performance against Wisconsin-Superior, where he battled back for a 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory to clinch the deciding point in UST's 4-3 team win. He also secured straight-set victories over opponents from Illinois Wesleyan and Belhaven, showcasing his consistency throughout the week.
Head Coach Jack Brasington commended Salazar's composure under pressure, "I'm happy Wilson is learning how to play his best in pressure situations. He's controlling the controllables by moving his feet, playing smart, and believing in himself."
With an undefeated singles record for the week, Salazar continues to make an immediate impact in his debut season, proving to be a key contributor for the Celts.
