HOUSTON,TX- The University of St. Thomas first-year standout Raja Pandya has been named the SCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from February 3-9.

Competing at the No. 2 singles position, Pandya delivered a gritty comeback victory against LeTourneau's Fernando Vazquez, winning 2-6, 6-2, 14-12. Facing multiple match points in the decisive super tiebreaker, Pandya's resilience and poise helped him clinch the win, ultimately securing a 4-3 team victory for the Celts.

Assistant Coach Luis Cuervo praised Pandya's ability to rise to the occasion:
"Raja displayed remarkable resilience and mental toughness in his collegiate debut. Battling back from a set down and saving four match points in the super tiebreak showcased his competitive spirit. He stayed composed under pressure and found a way to win. His hard-fought victory not only shifted the momentum of our match against LeTourneau but also reflected the dedication and grit he brings to the game."

With this performance, Pandya makes an immediate impact in his debut season and sets the tone for the Celts moving forward.
