Reunited! Paul Murillo added to Celt Women's Soccer Staff

After settling into his role as Head Coach of Celt Women's Soccer, Nataki Stewart is delighted to welcome Paul Murillo as his newest assistant coach. Murillo brings expertise at all levels to the University of St. Thomas and is reunited with Coach Stewart after spending the last three years as the assistant/goalkeeper coach at Angelina College.

"I am excited to have a coach of Paul's caliber joining our program and the UST community. Our team will benefit greatly from his high character as he will invest in their development on the field and in the classroom," Head Coach Nataki Steward said. "Paul is also a proven winner, a top goalkeeper trainer, and an elite recruiter. We achieved some very special history during our time at Angelina, and UST will be no different."

While at Angelina, with Murillo's Coaching, the Roadrunners and Lady Roadrunners ranked 6th and 12th in the country and produced five All-Americans. The women's team finished with a record of 26-8-1, while the men's teams finished with a 29-7-2 and a place in the 2022 National Tournament. Murillo's goalkeepers produced a 0.58 goals-against average over 19 games during the 2022 season.

Prior to Angelina College, Murillo served as the Technical Director for the Real Salt Lake in El Paso and the club's goalkeeper coach for two years. The Real Salt Lake Academy is recognized as one of many strong affiliates of Major League Soccer, providing a developmental process for the Utah Royals (NWSL) and Real Salt Lake (MLS). From 2013-2016, Murillo served as goalkeeper and conditioning coach with FC Dallas Academy's program. Murillo was a volunteer assistant coach at El Dorado High School from 2010-2012, working with both the girls' and boys' programs.

Under Murillo's guidance, more than 27 athletes have advanced to the Division I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA collegiate ranks; 12 of his former players currently are playing professionally in the NWSL, USL, MLS, Liga MX, and A-League.

"I am grateful to Taki, who has continued to believe in what we have done and allowed me to join him in his hometown with UST staff and athletic department at such an exciting time," Murillo added. "I am excited to be a part of this fantastic school, fanbase, and community for this program.  I'm ready to get right to work with this team. Go Celts!"
