Celts power past Centenary 2-1

Celts power past Centenary 2-1

The University of St Thomas Women's Soccer team won their match against Conference opponent 2-1 Centenary on Saturday night. Behind 22 total shots, the Celts showed impressive offense throughout the course of the game.

Karson Funderburk wasted no time making her presence known in just the 8th minute. Notching a goal for herself, Funderburk put the Celts up 1-0. This lead would hold until the 76th minute when Emily McCoy would tack on a goal for herself to secure a two-goal advantage. However, Centenary would not go away easily. After a goal in the 81st minute, the Ladies' comeback fell short.

Defensively, the Celts showed aggression with four yellow cards across the match. They would also only allow one shot on goal as Carmen Lozada picked up her second victory of the season.

Up next, the Celts host Sul Ross State on September 8th at 7:30 on the grounds of Houston Sports Park.
