Women's Soccer Returns Baez as Assistant Coach

After a successful first season as an Assistant Coach for two teams that saw Celt Men's Soccer reach the Sweet 16 Round of the NCAA Tournament, Celt Women's Soccer is excited to welcome Alex Baez back to the team. Under new Head Coach Nataki Stewart, the program strives to achieve new standards with Baez's assistance.

"When I met Alex, I quickly realized that his attention to detail and relationship-building traits were of the highest order," Head Coach Nataki Stewart said. "When I arrived on campus in March, he did an amazing job with our team."

Baez is a Houston native who graduated from Houston Baptist University '16. While at HBU Baez played collegiate soccer for the Huskies as a center midfielder, making the academic all-conference team all four years. Upon graduating with his degree in Kinesiology wellness management, Baez coached Albion Hurricanes. He then moved to the collegiate ranks to be the men's and women's assistant at the University of Houston-Victoria. While at UHV Alex helped the Jaguars Men's team win three regular seasons and two conference tournaments. As for the women, they reached new heights making the conference tournament in two of his three seasons with the team. This season at the University of St. Thomas, Alex will assist men's and women's soccer as an assistant coach.

"Alex has been a part of championship cultures throughout his coaching career but most importantly knows how to build and sustain it," Steward added. "His ability to get the best out of others will be a tremendous asset to our team."
