Houston, Texas - The University of St. Thomas volleyball team faced Austin College in a pivotal and hard-fought match Saturday afternoon at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center. Unfortunately, the Kangaroos walked away from the JAAC with a win. The loss drops the Celts to 9-12 overall and 4-6 in conference play. The visitors from Sherman got off to a fast start and built a 2-set lead that was more than the hosts could overcome; set scores were 21-25, 17-25, 25-18, and 13-25.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle as both teams traded points early. However, with the score tied 12-12, the Roos found a little breathing room and began to pull away, taking a 20-17 lead and eventually sealing the set. Set two started well for the Celts as they jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, but it evaporated fast, and the Kangaroos once again pulled away in the middle of the set and finished with a 25-17 2nd set victory.

With their backs against the wall, the Celts came out in the third set with energy and determination. St. Thomas' aggressive play overwhelmed AC, and the home team maintained control throughout, winning the set 25-18 and keeping their hopes alive. However, in the fourth set, Austin College responded quickly, jumping to a 6-3 lead and never looking back, winning convincingly 25-13

Audrey Cataline was a standout on the stat sheet, leading the Celts with 16 kills while hitting .255. Teammates Alexis Bodunrin and Jazilyn Davis added 10 and 9 kills, respectively. Kendall Howard dished out 21 assists, while Mia Medina followed closely with 12. Defensively, Kara Spice led the team with 21 digs. Bodunrin and Cataline helped defensively with 16 and 13 digs each.
