Celts Picked Fourth in SCAC Pre-Season Poll

Celts picked 4th in Pre-Season Coaches Polls

In a poll of the league's coaches, the University of St. Thomas volleyball team was selected to finish 4th in the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season.

With three additional schools added to the conference this summer, the SCAC has grown to 12 members, all of whom sponsor volleyball. Trinity swept the first-place votes, as every head coach picked the Tigers to win the league. Colorado College finished second in the rankings after a runner-up finish in the 2023 SCAC tournament. The Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran claimed the third spot, just in front of the Celts.

Following a 20-11 season, the Celts are looking to improve on their best yet 4th-place regular season finish. The St. Thomas roster returns six starters, including SCAC Back Row Player of the Year Kara Spice (Sr) and All-Region Audrey Cataline (Jr). Cataline and Spice were both 2023 SCAC 1st Team All SCAC. With the addition of two transfers and a strong incoming freshmen class, UST is a team to watch. St. Thomas is led by Head Coach Keanne Burt, who is entering her 11th season.

The Celts' season begins Friday, August 30th at 10 AM with a home opener against future 2025 SCAC opponent Hendrix. Following the Hendrix match, the Celts host Lewis & Clark at 6:30 PM. Sunday, Aug 31st, the Celts play SCAC rival Schreiner in an early nonconference match. These games will set the stage and help tune their strategies for the season.
