SHERMAN, Texas – The University of St. Thomas women's tennis team won its final conference match of the regular season Saturday as the Celts triumphed 6-1 at Austin College.

The Celts (5-7, 3-1 SCAC) swept all five singles matches that were played after splitting the two doubles matches that were contested with the Kangaroos.

UST's Alyssa Davila and Jenny Reynolds led the Celt women Saturday as they were victorious in both doubles and singles play. The pair cruised to a flight two victory over Tara Tran and Sierra Thomas in doubles play by a score of 8-0.

In singles play, Davila had to overcome a set one setback against Kylie Imperial in flight two. The Austin College player won the opening set 7-6, taking the tiebreaker by a score of 7-5. Davila, a junior from Spring, Texas, rebounded from the nail-biter opener and took set two 6-4. With the overall team results already decided, Davila prevailed 10-2 in a single-game tiebreaker.

Meanwhile, Reynolds had little trouble in her flight three singles match as she defeated Bailey Standokes 6-2, 6-0. UST's Karissa Guzman won her flight four match with relative ease, turning away Tran by scores of 6-1, 6-0.

In flight one, UST's Alejandra Lopez avenged an earlier loss to one of her double's opponents as she bested Gigi Francis 7-5, 6-0. Lopez had a particularly busy day as she and Guzman gave Francis and Imperial a very competitive flight one doubles match that was won 9-7 by the Kangaroo pair.

Flight five of singles play saw UST's Regina Lopez outlast Sierra Thomas 6-4, 6-2.

The Celts conclude their weekend trip to the Piney Woods on Sunday with a match at East Texas Baptist in Marshall. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

UST will take part in the postseason Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament that begins Friday, April 29 at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
