Mens Basketball returns to the JAAC for HOMECOMING

HOUSTON, Texas – The University of St. Thomas men's basketball team will host two games Thursday and Saturday during Homecoming Week.

The Celts, who are receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll, meet Our Lady of the Lake at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and University of the Southwest at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Jerabeck Activity & Athletic Center.

UST (15-7, 6-4 Red River Athletic Conference) have won their past two games – both on the road. Our Lady of the Lake (6-13, 4-7) is coming off a 90-88 overtime loss to Texas College Saturday. Southwest (4-14, 2-9) has dropped four straight.

St. Thomas won the first meeting at OLL this season. Orowo Eleyae scored 27 points, and Paris Marquez and Freddie Ricks each had 10 for the Celts in that win. Brandon Joseph scored 22 points, and Lennox Jones Jr. had 12 for the Saints.

The Celts beat Southwest in Hobbs, N.M., in a dogfight in the first meeting. Eleyae had 24 points in that game. Nathan Thormaehlen had 13 points and 11 boards. Kennard Robinson had 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Marquez scored 11. Emmanuel McNeil had 18 points and five rebounds, and Rontrell Hills added 17 points, six boards and five assists for the Mustangs.

UST ranks fourth in the country in three-point field goals (236). The Celts are seventh in assists per game (18.3). OLL is fourth in three-point field goals per game (11.1) and three-point field goal percentage (.416). Southwest is 10th in assists per game (17.9) and 16th in steals per game (8.5).
