Celts Return to San Antonio for Tiger Invitational

After a brief break, the University of St. Thomas swim team returned to San Antonio to compete in the Tiger Invitational hosted by Trinity University at the Alamo Heights Natatorium. The Celts competed against Southwestern, McMurry, Austin College, Loyola (LA), Trinity, UT-Permian Basin, Colorado State-Pueblo, UTRGV, and Incarnate Word. They delivered standout performances, highlighted by season and personal bests from swimmers.

The women's relay teams set the tone with season-best performances. Valentina Garcia-Lara, Emely Lopez, Ava Verret, and Kelsy Elgar clocked a time of 1:49.96 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. In the 400-yard medley relay, the same quartet posted a season-best 4:34.04.

On the men's side, the trio of Oscar Mayorga, Jackson Demoss, and Ben Tercero excelled, each achieving top-16 finishes. Mayorga's impressive swim in the 500-yard freestyle earned him 12th place with a season-best 4:49.18. Demoss shined in the 200-yard IM, finishing 13th and notching a season-best at 2:03.69.

Ben Tercero made waves in the 50-yard freestyle, earning 9th place with an all-time-best of 21.45. His performance marked a significant personal milestone and contributed to the Celts' strong showing on the opening day.
