Celts Face Trinity in Dual Meet

 San Antonio, Texas - The University of St. Thomas Swim team traveled to San Antonio, TX, for an intense two-day Dual meet against Trinity University. Day 1 and Day 2 saw remarkable performances, with personal bests, tight finishes, and strong relay showings.

Day 1 Highlights

On Friday, freshman Luke Newman set a new personal best in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing seventh with a time of 59.70. Newman's achievement highlights his growth and determination as a key addition to the Celts' roster.

Oscar Mayorga had an outstanding race in the 500 Yard Freestyle, finishing just half a second behind Trinity's Nickolas Rotolo. Mayorga's strong splits throughout the race brought him a close second-place finish at 4:58.53, marking one of the closest contests of the day.

Day 2 Highlights

Saturday saw continued success from Celt swimmers, especially in the sprint events. Ben Tercero led the Celts in the 50 50-yard butterfly, winning the event with a swift 24.53. His speed kept him ahead of Trinity's top competitors, earning him a well-deserved first-place finish.

Tercero also shone in the 100-yard IM, placing second at 58.37, right behind Trinity's Caleb del Rosario. His consistent performance added valuable points for the Celts on Day 2.

In the mixed relay event, the Celts' A team, featuring Kelsy Elgar, Ben Tercero, Ava Verret, and Oscar Mayorga, finished third with a time of 4:12.21, showcasing the depth and versatility of the team across both men's and women's events.
