Hughes and Simmons named to NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team

Hughes and Simmons named to NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team

At the conclusion of the NCAA Softball Regional in Belton, Texas, the Celts had two student-athletes named to the all-tournament team. After an outstanding performance in three games of action, Freshman Allison Hughes and Sophomore Jaeyln Simmons received honors.

In three games at third base, Jaelyn Simmons got it done offensively and defensively. The sophomore went a perfect 1.000% in the field, recording seven putouts and a double play. At the plate, she also notched at least one hit in each game. Simmons' tournament was highlighted by game two in which she scored two runs, had two RBI, and hit a triple to deep center field.

Freshman Allison Hughes was a force in the circle for the Celts. In the opening game against Mary Hardin Baylor, she allowed just two hits and recorded a perfect 0.00 era in 2.1 innings of work. Then in the following game against Rosemont, Hughes went the distance and pitched a no-hitter against the Ravens to eliminate them from the tournament. On top of allowing zero hits, she also struck out five batters to secure the Celts' first NCAA tournament victory.
