The University of St Thomas Men's Soccer team opened the 2018 campaign with a 2-1 win vs Concordia University at Houston Sports Park on Sunday. The Celts started the game well and controlled much of the first half. The Celts dominance paid off in the 34th minute with a well worked combination finished off by Jacob Evans (SO/Chester, United Kingdom). UST went in to halftime leading 1-0 and holding a 4 to 1 shots on goal advantage. The 2nd half saw both team create chances to score with the Tornados equalizing in the 86th minute. The momentum swing would last only 2 minutes as Luis Bencomo (SO/Barquisinento, Venezuela) scored off an inch perfect cross for the game winner in the 88th minute. "I was pleased with the way we responded after Concordia scored. The guys showed a great ability to move on from the goal against and find the winning goal with only 2 minutes remaining," said University of St Thomas head coach Ian Clerihew.

St Thomas returns to action vs Florida National University on Thursday, September 6 at Houston Sports Park. Kick-off is set for 2:00pm.
