With their regular season behind them, UST Women's Cross Country is primed for a strong showing at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. St. Thomas will meet every team in the conference with a title on the line in Seguin, Texas this weekend.
New Faces Support Veterans
Seniors Sophia Sanchez and Samantha Hernandez led the way for the Celts in their most recent meet in Santa Clara, posting strong times of 24:23.0 and 24:36.9, respectively. Sanchez also earned SCAC Runner of the Week honors earlier in the season, receiving recognition for a strong overall season. Freshman Alejandra Ramon made an early impact, leading the Celts with a third place finish at the Celt Opener in September. Ramon has remained consistent throughout the season, providing a nice boost for the Celts. Ashlee Garcia and Victoria Ramirez have also chipped in plenty of support, helping the Celts to high rankings in team competition throughout the season.
Ready to Take On the Conference Meet
Women's Cross Country has participated in four meets this season leading up to the Conference Championships this weekend, posting strong finishes against tough competition in all of them. The balanced roster has stacked up well against some Division I teams early in the season, leaving them in a good place to take on their SCAC foes this weekend.
