
Women's Cross Country traveled to Washington for the NCAA West Division Regionals. Against a field of 23 teams, the Celts finished 21st place against cold and frigid conditions.
Leading the pack for St. Thomas was Sophia Sanchez who finished right at 100th place, with a time of 25:17:5 in the women's 6k. Sanchez paced herself with an average of 4:13 per kilometer. Behind her was junior Ashley Martinez, who came in at 116th. Martinez clocked a time of 25:29:5 and ran a pace of 4:15. From there, it was all freshman for Coach Dohner as Victoria Ramirez, Samantha Hernandez, and Hailey Perez rounded out the runners for UST.
Victoria Ramirez finished just four places behind Martinez with her time of 25:39:3. Her average pace was an impressive 4:17, just 4 seconds behind top Celt finisher Sanchez. Next was Samantha Hernandez. Hernandez registered a time of 26:22:6 at a 4:24 pace to finish 141st. Finally, Hailey Perez wrapped up her season pacing at 4:29 to run 26:50 flat.
With the conclusion of this meet, women's cross country wraps up their team season. Should a Celt qualify, it would be individually at the national meet. Follow UST athletics for all further information.
