The University of St. Thomas Lady Celts fell to the Southwestern University Pirates Friday night at Houston Sports Park 5-1. 

The Celts conceded a goal early in the first half, and the scoreline maintained at 1-0 until the second half. Despite their efforts, the Celts were not able to get a promising attack going in the first half. In the second half the Celts conceded four more goals, and although the scoreline held 5-0 for quite some time, the Celts never gave up. Their efforts accumulated a total of 16 shots, 9 on goal whilst the Pirates took a total of 12 shots, 8 on goal. In the final minutes of the match, senior Hailie Hernandez ripped a banger into the goal to ensure the Celts were noticed on the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Carmen Lozada made two overall saves, and the Celts defense fought hard to keep the Pirates out of their half. Some quick attacks by the Pirates caught the Celts off guard and in result, the final scoreline read 5-1.

The Lady Celts will return to Houston Sports Park this Sunday with a 1pm kickoff as they take on Texas Lutheran University.
