Coach Idris Johnson is a seasoned and accomplished high school boys basketball coach with a rich background in both academia and professional expertise. A proud graduate of the University of Houston, Coach Idris holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Business Administration. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his academic journey, having earned a Master's degree in International Relations and an LLB in Business Organizations.
Beyond the basketball court, Coach Idris has made significant contributions to the legal and business sectors. With a focus on risk management, he has served as the General In-House Counsel for a prominent Houston-based government contracting firm. Additionally, his role as the Director of Marketing for GHG Corporation showcases his versatile skill set and business acumen.
Not content with confining his impact to the corporate world, Coach Idris is the visionary Director and Founder of Lateral Athletics Competitive Institute. This innovative organization is dedicated to empowering young female athletes through the sport of basketball. As the driving force behind this initiative, Coach Idris aims to provide girls with a wealth of knowledge about the game while creating a pathway for them to leverage their passion and talent to pursue higher education in college.
Then in the fall of 2023, under Head Coach Mansa El Ward, Coach Idris helps bring quality student-athletes to the program as a recruiting coordinator and assistant coach.
