Shreveport, LA - The University of St. Thomas women's cross country team turned in a solid performance at the SCAC Championship Meet, held at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. In a competitive 6000-meter race, the Celts displayed some toughness and grit, ultimately finishing in 5th, a single point behind Southwestern, with a total score of 137. The meet featured the #1 Team in the country, Colorado College, along with SCAC newcomers Concordia, Ozarks, and a good McMurry team. Senior Samantha Hernandez led the Celts, placing 27th overall with a time of 24:20.18 and contributing 19 points to the team's score. Hernandez's experience and commitment have been instrumental for St. Thomas this season, and her strong showing at the SCAC Championship underscored her impact on the team. Close behind, sophomore Alejandra Ramon earned 20 points with her 30th-place finish, clocking in at 24:25.15. Senior Elizabeth Stepaniak crossed the line at 25:53.95, rounding out the top three Celt finishers and demonstrating her steady dedication throughout her career. Sophomore Gizelle Gonzalez finished with a time of 26:08.88, while fellow sophomore Kianna Stamps completed the team's scoring with a finish of 26:16.31.
